Junior Portfolio Manager - Job Description

 

The Junior Portfolio Manager will help service prospective and existing clients by providing technical support to marketing efforts. The position will report directly to the Senior Portfolio Manager and will contribute to organizing and managing key aspects of the business and related activities.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for delivering cross asset strategies that provide excess returns based on a risk-controlled scientific investment process.
  • Responsible for helping manage an international multi asset portfolio
  • Communicating the investment philosophy, process, product positioning and current market trends to clients
  • Managing cash-flows including equalization, FX and communication with other portfolio managers.
  • Work with junior team members to create materials used in new business pitches and client reviews
  • Generating and reviewing trade lists, monitoring positions, exposures and performance
  • Developing ideas and insights to improve the quality of portfolios, including alpha model, risk model, and portfolio construction.
  • Developing and implementing ideas to improve the efficiency and risk control of portfolio management process
  • Develop and communicate knowledge of industry trends, competitive landscape, fund launches, product developments, investing strategies and investment team's capabilities to sophisticated institutional investors
  • Client presentations, communication, and reporting
  • Analysis of portfolios including positioning and performance results
  • Frequent interaction with portfolio managers and distribution partners
  • Internal point person for support and operations groups such as client reporting, client Service, RFP, etc.

 

Required Skills

  • Knowledge and experience in investments, no need for quantitative background, but should be genuinely interested in investing.
  • Ability to take ownership of implementation of investment strategies and solve day to day portfolio issues.
  • Creativity to generate ideas and insights. Enjoy creating a partnership with colleagues to generate new ideas.
  • Analytical skills, high aptitude for numbers
  • Excellent responsiveness and problem solving skills
  • Adaptability, innovation, results orientation, and excellent teamwork skills
  •  Broad range of computer skills, such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Written and verbal communication skills

Education:

  • The ideal candidate will hold a degree in business or economics from a leading university. Preference will be given to candidates who are pursuing their CFA designation.
  • 2-5 years work experience in related field
